Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)

AGRA works to achieve food security and prosperity in Africa through the promotion of rapid, sustainable agriculture growth based on smallholder farmers. AGRA has identified the Beira Corridor as its focal investment/ “breadbasket” area and has provided an accountable grant to BAGC Secretariat and Cepagri to coordinate the implementation of the BB investment plan. This project seeks to facilitate the development of operational plans for the Beira Corridor breadbasket strategies; coordination for the implementation of BB plans; experience sharing and lesson learning on BB interventions; and monitoring on BB projects and activities.


PROIRRI is a Sustainable Irrigation Development Project whose development objective is to increase agricultural production marketed and raise farm productivity in new or improved irrigation schemes in the provinces of Sofala, Manica and Zambezia. Proirri has identified BAGC as a strategic and assign the BAGC secretariat responsibility for facilitating the implementation of Proirri outgrower development component. The  objective of this business line is to promote win-win business arrangements between smallholder farmers associations and private sector operators (large scale commercial producers or processing and/or trading companies dealing in a particular commodity). Over a period of 3 years 1.2million ha will be developed under outgrower arrangements with business entities


The International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) focuses on increasing productivity across the agricultural value chain in developing countries. This is achieved by the creation and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise.

The objective of partnership between IFDC and BAGC is to facilitate collaboration in promoting the development of commercial viable commodity value chains benefitting smallholder farmers within the Beira Corridor


Prorustica has been a key member in the development of the Beira Agricultural Growth Corridor as well as other public private partnerships within the region. Prorustica has served as the key advisor in facilitating the establishment of the BAGC Secretariat.  Prorustica promotes a partnership model that seeks to facilitate communication between stakeholders while ensuring that investments are properly coordinated within commodity supply chains by supplying supportive infrastructure and other enabling mechanisms.

Launched at the World Economic Forum at Davos, the Beira Agricultural Growth Corridor (BAGC) is a partnership between governments, private investors, donor agencies and regional organisations which aims to boost agricultural productivity in Mozambique and the wider region. The Beira Corridor has offices and Maputo and can be contacted through this website.
